This was the closing prayer poem from my sermon I Have Said All These Things to You to Keep You from Falling Away. January 22, 2022. First Chinese Baptist Church, Walnut, California.


A Warning and a Promise

A warning and a promise

To those who bear the cross:

That when the night is coming

Our joy comes with the dawn.

Our sins have been forgiven

Our souls have been set free!

In trials and in testing

We have all that we need.

For just as Christ has suffered

So we must suffer too.

With hate and persecution

They know not what they do.

But as the Spirit seals us

And we recall his words,

We see the Son in glory

And hope for his return.

With help from God almighty 

And surely sovereign grace,

We will endure to Heaven

Hold on and keep the faith!
