Beholding Christ Bible: Seeing Jesus in All of Scripture with Nancy Guthrie

The following is an article version of the audio transcript:

An Introduction to the Beholding Christ Bible

Today, I’m taking a look at the Beholding Christ Bible: Seeing Jesus in All of Scripture by Nancy Guthrie. It includes 365 instructive readings alongside the biblical text.

Nancy Guthrie is a Bible teacher who provides introductions, summaries, and helpful notes to guide you through the Bible. The text is divided into sections, and the Bible includes a complete reading plan. I really love this type of Bible because you can simply pick it up, start reading, and be guided along the way.

Guided Readings and Commentary

Today, we’re looking at Day 198, which covers Isaiah 61–66. You can see the heading at the beginning of the reading, followed by what is essentially Guthrie’s commentary to guide you through the passage.

There are also helpful notes to consider as you read the Bible. These encourage you to think more deeply about the text while still providing the complete ESV biblical text. The goal is to help you see Jesus throughout the entire storyline of Scripture. I love that Christ is at the center of this Bible.

Cover Design and Features

The color in the video represents the Bible pretty well. It has a beautiful charcoal-gray cover with an almost marble-like appearance and a TruTone finish by Crossway. The page edges are gold, and the embossing is gold as well. It also comes with a nice brown ribbon marker to help you keep your place as you work through the daily readings.

I really love this type of Bible. The chapter headings and section headings have a dark gold color that complements the overall design.

How This Bible Helps Readers Engage with Scripture

When I was first reading through the Bible, this format really helped me. I had an NIV Bible with a similar layout, featuring sections, headings, and brief commentary to guide me through my daily readings. Guthrie’s notes and commentary are even better than what I had growing up.

I’m excited to see how this Bible can shape people’s quiet times with God. Not only will it help first-time readers work their way through Scripture, but it will also guide them and provide valuable insight into the biblical text.

It’s a wonderful way to experience the full scope of Scripture. I love this type of Bible, and I encourage you to check it out for yourself.

Crossway has done a beautiful job putting this Bible together. I’ve heard that they plan to release an entire suite of related products, including a podcast. This is just the beginning, and I’m excited to see what else they do with the Beholding Christ Bible.
