An Island of Grace

Where can we find rest from a selfish and sinful world? In An Island of Grace, Christopher Wright writes on redeeming love in the book of Ruth.

Examples of Godliness

With less than 100 pages, this short 6-chapter book is a series of sermons preached by Christopher Wright. An elder emeritus of the First Reformed Presbyterian Church of Cambridge, Massachusetts – his writing is direct and clear, with personal warmth and charm.

The main characters in the book of Ruth stand out and stand apart from the people in our culture today. They are examples of godliness, with grace-filled words and actions. Wright does an excellent job of expositing the Scripture and showing God’s redemptive work.

The Care and Compassion of Christ

What I most appreciated was Wright’s ability to make applications from the text. When looking at the kinsman-redeemer, Wright acts if you have ever felt alone or abandoned by God. This is a direct hit to the heart, and Wright provides comfort by pointing to the many brothers and sisters we have here on earth but ultimately to the care and compassion of Jesus.

This book is a quick and accessible look at the kindness of God. Read, see, and sing the theme of redeeming love.
