Delighting in the Trinity

Is there beauty to behold in the doctrine of the Trinity? In Delighting in the Trinity, Michael Reeves presents an introduction to the Christian faith.

God is Love

Reeves begins his book by explaining how the doctrine of the Trinity is vital and the source of all good in Christianity. This is a shocking statement, and Reeves uses the book to beautifully back up his claim. Even before creation, God is in himself love.

What I most appreciated were the special sections featuring vignettes of the people and ideas from church history who have thought deeply about the mystery of the Holy Trinity. From Athanasius to Thomas Chalmers – we stand on the shoulders of theological giants.

Beauty, Wonder, and Glory

Reeves explains the personhood and roles of each member of the Trinity with care and awe, keeping a posture of respectful worship. There is a joyful tone throughout the book, and I appreciate how he paints Christianity and the cross of Christ as unparalleled in beauty and glory.

As the latest inductee in the IVP Signature Collection, this book has earned its spot with over 130,000 copies sold worldwide. At just under 150 pages, it is a concise and compelling champion of the doctrine of the Trinity. Beautifully written, you will read it with wonder.
