No More Boring Bible Study
In No More Boring Bible Study, Faith Womack offers a guide that shows why taking Scripture seriously is easier—and more exciting—than you might think.
What Womack does best is genuinely get readers excited about Bible study. She frames and weaves her chapters with personal stories, and I found myself saying, “Me too!” while reading.
She clearly and efficiently explains foundational ideas and essential skills for studying the Bible in a short amount of time: why we can believe the Bible is true, the difference between exegesis and eisegesis, and how the overarching storyline of Scripture is the “secret code” to understanding the Bible.
Enjoying God’s Word
I especially enjoyed her discussion of what the Bible is not. It is not just a history textbook. It is not just a rulebook. It is not just a letter.
The book concludes by addressing problems in modern interpretation and application, which I found refreshing as someone who is not new to Bible study. Womack tackles the self-centered hermeneutic many of us struggle with and shows how right understanding—one that leads to worship—is the right application of the text.
No More Boring Bible Study is an excellent book that demonstrates that studying God’s Word is not only for spiritual education, but also for spiritual enjoyment.
