The Book of First & Second Corinthians

What can we learn from the Corinthian church today? In The Book of First & Second Corinthians, Alabaster beautifully designs a personal and focused book on what it looks like to live a life of faith healthily and maturely.

The Humility and Gentleness of Christ

These two books tackle a lot of topics, and Alabaster pairs a variety of photos with the text to leave a lasting impression. I was left with a sense of humility as I saw the many landscapes, and this reminded me of the humility and gentleness of Christ.

The up-close pictures helped me feel an intimacy with the Apostle Paul who wrote these detailed letters. I thought of the many relationship issues that are discussed in these books, as well as the close bond we share with Christ.

“My Grace is All You Need”

The New Living Translation felt fresh and worked with the overall flow of the book. The “Love Chapter” of 1 Corinthians 13 was especially memorable. And 2 Corinthians 12:9 was delicately direct: “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.”

The yellow and gold color scheme really worked for me, serving as a reminder of the Corinthians’ wealth and the riches we have in Christ. Moreover, I felt the urge to be generous just as God has lavished his grace upon us.

The Very Power of God

This book helps Paul’s letters to the Corinthian church come to life. The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.
