Deliver and Defend

This was the closing prayer poem from my sermon I Will Defend This City to Save It. July 9, 2023. First Chinese Baptist Church, Walnut, California.

King and Cornerstone

Holy holy holy!

God you condescend

To sinners who

Will trust you to

Deliver and defend.

Glory glory glory!

God your grace extends

To sinners who

Will trust you to

Deliver and defend.

Powerful and mighty,

Yet personal and true.

You hear our prayers and answer —

Nothing’s too hard for you.

You save for your name’s sake,

The praising of your son,

So we can come rejoicing —

Beholding him in love.

Holy holy holy!

God you condescend

To sinners who

Will trust you to

Deliver and defend.

Glory glory glory!

God your grace extends

To sinners who

Will trust you to

Deliver and defend.
