Strangers & Exiles

Enter our giveaway of Wisdom & Knowledge: God’s Grace in the Life of Solomon by Jonathan Griffifths!

In Strangers & Exiles, Jonathan Griffiths shows how the life of Abraham helps us pursue faithfulness as pilgrims in a faithless world.

Right from the beginning, we see that the blessings of salvation come to us by God’s own initiative and grace. God is the initiator. God is the actor. He is the one who calls, who promises, and who provides.

Tried and Tested

Throughout his life, Abraham’s faith is tried and tested. In moments of fear and uncertainty, he must cling to God’s promises and trust in His covenant faithfulness. For God’s people today, we look to Jesus Christ. He cannot fail us and will never forsake us. There is deep comfort in knowing that all our days—present and future—are held securely in His hands.

With vivid illustrations and practical examples, Griffiths makes Abraham’s story feel real and tangible. The narrative bridges the ancient world and our own, helping readers see how Abraham’s journey of trust speaks directly into modern struggles.

Blessings and Faithfulness

I was especially moved by the portrayal of God’s complete faithfulness—particularly in providing a son for Abraham. That long-awaited fulfillment ultimately points forward to the greater provision found in God’s Son, Jesus, through whom all of God’s promises find their “Yes.”

The book closes by reminding us that even as sojourners in a foreign land, we are not without blessing. Though we live as strangers and exiles, we do so as heirs of promise, sustained by the unwavering faithfulness of God.
