The Dragon Slayer and His Super Special Suit

In The Dragon Slayer and His Super Special Suit, Kyle Worley tells a fun and meaningful story that introduces kids to the armor of God in a creative, memorable way.

Stand Firm

The book is framed around Lydia and her dad sharing a bedtime story. In playful rhyming verse, we meet a dragon who strikes the Hero’s heel—but is ultimately defeated and defanged. Though the dragon still roams, he’s no match for the victorious Hero, who gives special suits of armor and a sword to His people so they can stand firm.

One of my favorite details is that Lydia—a young girl—gets to wear the suit and carry a sword herself. It’s a simple but powerful reminder that the armor of God is for every child, boys and girls.

In Christ

The vibrant illustrations by Kaja Kajfez add so much energy and warmth to the story. I also appreciated how Lydia and her dad are illustrated in a way that reflects the beauty of transracial adoption, echoing Worley’s own story and pointing to the greater truth that God has adopted us into His family.

The Dragon Slayer and His Super Special Suit is a sweet, gospel-centered picture of what it means to be “in Christ”—clothed in His victory and secure in His love.
