The Sermon on the Mount
In The Sermon on the Mount, Sinclair B. Ferguson shows what kingdom life looks like in a fallen world. What he does best is connect the kingdom of heaven with its King Himself. You’ll see what true Christian life looks like, and he demonstrates how it was exemplified in Christ.
Ferguson is able to look at Christ’s discourse from a theological and biblical perspective. He does not cut corners when he examines the text, and he presents a robust view of righteousness that is countercultural to what we see in the world today.
Living Like a Christian
Nevertheless, Ferguson shows the wisdom and warmth of Jesus. He lets the brilliance of Christ’s words shine through. Bringing a fresh perspective with each chapter, the book can be used for personal study or devotional reading.
This is one of the most accessible and pastoral takes I have read on this famous passage of Scripture without sacrificing biblical clarity and theology. Ferguson also takes the time to ask readers to examine their own lives. Reading this book caused me to reflect on whether I am truly living as a Christian — and he made me want to live as one.
