Voices of the Martyrs by John Foxe is a testament to those who have died for the privilege of proclaiming Christ. This 500-page hardcover book is a bold and beautiful reminder that God is at work and the gospel continues to go forth.

As I read this book and write my review, I sit in relative comfort and safety. This book brings a sense of urgency and highlights the importance of playing my part in spreading the Good News.

See the Church Endure

I first learned about John Foxe and The Voice of the Martyrs through John Piper and Desiring God. The Voice of the Martyrs ministry has helped me stay connected with Christians across the globe. The book begins with the persecution of the early church and ends with modern martyrs in the twenty-first century. It’s an accessible and engaging read.

Along the way, you’ll read courageous stories about individuals persecuted under the Roman Empire, during the Middle Ages, the Reformation, sixteenth-century England and Europe, the Enlightenment and the Age of Reason, and the Industrial Revolution. Throughout it all, you’ll see the church endure.

More Than Conquerors

Updated with modernized English and enriched with images and quotes, this book helped me feel like family with my brothers and sisters in the faith across cultures and throughout the centuries. I am encouraged that the gospel is a treasure worth keeping, guarding, and sharing.

Powerful and inspiring, every Christian should have this book to remember the call and cost of our Great Commission. It is an exhortation for believers around the world to persevere and put their trust in God as we evangelize and make disciples. We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
