Believe the Bible

Two Reasons Why We Can Be Confident in God’s Word

Aaron Lee | December 5, 2025 | FCBCW Awana | 2 Peter 3:2

Introduction

The Bible is the Word of God. The Bible was written over 1500 years ago, with 40 different writers, making up 66 books. One way to think about the Word of God is to see it as a puzzle. All the pieces fit together and form a picture. The puzzle pieces have a standard to be considered as Holy Scripture:

1. Authors of the Bible

I want to stir up your sincere understanding by way of reminder, 2 so that you recall the words previously spoken by the holy prophets and the command of our Lord and Savior given through your apostles. (2 Peter 3:2)

All of the books were written by a prophet, an apostle, or someone closely associated with them.

Prophet: A man who heard, understood, and shared a message from God (Old Testament)

Apostle: A man who was sent by Jesus to spread the gospel and lead the church (New Testament)

Application: “Eye witness accounts.” Recognize the authority of the Bible.

2. Agreement of the Bible

I want to stir up your sincere understanding by way of reminder, 2 so that you recall the words previously spoken by the holy prophets and the command of our Lord and Savior given through your apostles.

All of the books of the Bible agree with each other and none of them say another book is wrong.

The prophets and the apostles are united

The prophets and the apostles have harmony and compliment each other

Application: “Scripture interprets Scripture.” The Bible cannot contradict itself.

Gospel

When the puzzle is completed, you get a picture of Jesus:

14 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. We observed his glory, the glory as the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

Big Idea / Conclusion

Christians can be confident that the Bible is the complete and inspired Word of God.
