Kingdom Life: Studies in the Sermon on the Mount

Kingdom Life: Studies in the Sermon on the Mount by Dr. Stephen Yuille is an excellent workbook and video study for anyone who wants to move beyond simply reading Jesus’ teaching and begin applying it to everyday life. Structured as an eight-week study with short video sessions and workbook lessons, it is suitable for both personal devotions and small groups.

Depth of Study

What I appreciated most was the depth of the study. The workbook doesn’t just ask surface-level questions—it requires you to write thoughtful responses, which helped clarify what I truly believe and how Scripture applies to my life. The writing component encouraged slower, more intentional reflection rather than rushing through the material. I also enjoyed the meaningful quotes woven throughout the lessons, which reinforced the biblical teaching.

Several sections stood out to me, especially the lessons on pursuing righteousness over comfort, prosperity, and security. The question, “Is God my greatest treasure?” was particularly challenging and prompted honest self-examination. The study’s discussion of anxiety was equally encouraging, emphasizing that the ultimate remedy is finding our joy and satisfaction in God because He has given us Himself. It pointed me back to trusting God’s character and provision.

Blessed Righteousness

I was most pleased to see the lesson on pursuing righteousness over conceit and notoriety. It highlighted the importance of humility and cultivating a childlike dependence on God instead of seeking recognition or self-promotion. This was especially helpful as I think about my online life and how I want to live the kingdom life instead.

Overall, this study faithfully walks through the Sermon on the Mount while consistently connecting Christ’s teaching to daily attitudes, choices, and relationships. It is a thoughtful, gospel-centered resource that challenges believers to pursue genuine righteousness and grow in joyful submission to Christ as King. Perfect for private journaling and self study as well as in a classroom setting, this resrouce will give you a deeper, practical study of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.
